Why Do Custom Aluminum Business Cards Cost More?
Unlike traditional paper business cards that can be printed hundreds at a time, every custom sublimated aluminum business card goes through a hands-on process. Your design is first created and customized for your business, including your logo, colors, contact information, website, social media and QR code if requested. The finished artwork then has to be properly sized, mirrored and printed using specialty sublimation ink and sublimation transfer paper.
Each 3.4 x 2.1 x 0.01 inch aluminum card is made from specially coated sublimation-ready aluminum. The protective film must be removed, the surface prepared, and the printed transfer carefully aligned and secured with heat-resistant tape. The card is then placed into a heat press, where controlled heat, pressure and time cause the sublimation dye to turn into a gas and infuse into the special coating on the aluminum. This is different from simply applying a sticker or vinyl—the design becomes embedded in the coated surface.
For double-sided business cards, that process requires additional printing, alignment and pressing so both sides are finished correctly. Once pressed, the cards need to cool before they can be handled and inspected. Each finished card is checked for proper color, alignment, clarity and overall quality before being packaged for you.
